Three concrete ways to help: partner academically, contribute analytical work, or fund the field program directly. All are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Ways to help

Pick the lane that fits your capacity

Most supporters contribute money. Researchers and analysts can contribute something the program is short of: independent review and analytical capacity.

Academic collaboration

University groups, research departments, and graduate programs can review the field protocol, replicate the demonstration design, or analyse the plot-level dataset under a data-sharing agreement.

Financial analysis volunteering

Accountants, analysts, and spreadsheet-fluent volunteers help households read their own ledgers, reconcile loan registers, and present program finances to reviewers.

Direct gifts

Unrestricted gifts fund demonstration plots, training packets, and microloan capital. Restricted gifts can be directed to a named project on the impact page.

For researchers

Academic collaboration

We host undergraduate research, graduate fieldwork, and external replication. What we offer is access to paired demonstration plots, rainfall logs, and household ledgers.

The dataset is small but unusually clean: every treated plot has a control plot on the same soil in the same season, and every household keeps a cost and return ledger. That structure is what makes independent review possible.

Collaboration is scoped in writing before access. A typical project is one planting season, with the analysis reviewed by the agronomy lead before any external publication.

  • Replication: run the paired-plot protocol in your own study region.
  • Analysis: work the plot-level yield and cost data directly.
  • Fieldwork: supervise student research at demonstration sites.
  • Evaluation design: advise on follow-up survey instruments.

For analysts

Financial analysis volunteering

The program teaches farmers to compute their own margin. Volunteers help make sure the instruction is sound and that the organization can present its own finances the same way.

Ledger instruction

Support sessions where farmers learn to fill in the cost and return spreadsheet. The requirement is spreadsheet fluency and the patience to let someone else do the arithmetic.

Commitment: 3-5 daysMode: remote with field visit

Loan register reconciliation

Reconcile village savings group registers against disbursement records and flag any variance before the quarterly board review. Prior experience with microfinance operations is helpful.

Commitment: quarterlyMode: remote

Financial presentation review

Review program reporting for clarity and defensibility before it reaches donors and government reviewers, using the same standard the organization applies to its field data.

Commitment: annualMode: remote

Grant and donor reporting

Prepare narrative and financial sections of institutional grant reports, with strict sourcing: every claim traced to a plot record or a ledger line.

Commitment: per cycleMode: remote

Why this matters more than it sounds

A household that can compute its own margin does not need the program to tell it whether an input was worth buying. That is the difference between a program that transfers goods and one that transfers judgement.
